ADI is founded with a purpose, concern, objective and perspective. Alternative Development Initiatives (ADI) is a group of professionals working for Environmental regeneration & need based sustainable livelihood promotion. The group of professionals are drawn from premier institutes of the world had made seminal contribution in the development sector virtually in every State of republic of India and various other places globally. The trans-disciplinary team has a sound academic background with expertise in the social, management, ecological, environmental sciences, engineering and Information Technology.
These development professionals have founded Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), consulting organisations, worked at grassroots, as a researcher, policy advocator, worked with donors, government, bilateral, multilateral & corporate the sector and have developed very wide development network of organisation, which represent a long experience of working on development issues in India and other countries.
The team is committed in building partnerships with Government, Civil Society Organisations, Bilateral and Multilateral agencies, Corporates, Educational Institutions and all concerned stakeholders in National and International arena, and believe in addressing the problems of people through people-centred, sustainable and need-based approach. It is our belief that socially sensitive, committed and skilled persons can accelerate the process of development and make it more humane.
Given the strengths, expertise and management bandwidth of ADI, we can make a significant difference for promoting and nurturing sustainable growth, social development and good governance All this constitutes to distinct identity and wide outreach. The organisation is in a position to put together a multi-disciplinary team to undertake any specific assignment anywhere in India and abroad.
ADI offers services in research, consultancy & training and facilitates large-scale long-term direct action projects (DAP).
- The professional share more than three decades of field experience covering virtually every state in India and various other places globally

- The ADI network comprises more than 150 senior development professionals, field practitioners and organisations
- Extensive experience in working across diverse public systems, cultures and organisational frameworks at various levels (i.e. Social, Technical, Institutional and Policy issues)
- Building partnership with Corporate Sector in evolving and strengthening issues pertaining to development.
- Successfully completed the entire cycle of various National and International fame developmental initiatives (models), while the involvement remained from participatory planning & strategizing, conceptualisation, designing, facilitating the implementation process, capacity building and advocating at policy level.
- Together dealt with problems of poverty & livelihood, environment & Natural Resource, water, rural & urban development and governance, social risk management, Science & Technology, enterprise development, education, health, community outreach and communication strategy, Information Technology, and other related issues to social and economic development.
